Description
Barbarossa Malanotte
Barbarossa Malanotte is also known as Malanotte DOCG “Il Barbarossa”, Pizzolato, Italy. The colour is dark and intense red that tends to garnet. There is an intense aroma of chocolate and blackberry jam. Hints of black cherry, berries, strong spicy notes of licorice, pepper and tobacco. In the mouth it is very full-bodied and very tasty, with a long aging becomes velvety.
The vineyards are situated on the plains and hillsides near the Piave river that flows through the rich flourishing countryside in the north of Treviso. The Raboso grapes are organically grown and harvested by hand late in the summer.
There is a classic red vinification for 70% of grapes while 30% of grapes are dried on wooden cases for about 90 days. These two wines are blended before spending about a year in oak barrels and 8 months in barriques. To obtain the DOCG Malanotte denomination has to be marketed after at least a further three years.
Grower: Pizzolato.
Serve at 20° C.
As with all wines on this website, this wine has been made without animal products. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines. Many vegan wines are also organic or better still bio-dynamically grown. The care taken in growing the grapes and making the wine comes through in the taste of the final product. This is a vegan wine.
