Cabernet Sauvignon Senza Solfiti, Pizzolato
Cabernet Sauvignon Senza Solfiti by La Cantina Pizzolato, who impressively for the Veneto, works only with organic grapes. Aromas of summer fruits on a slightly herbaceous backdrop. Full-bodied and robust on the palate, will stand up to truffle and oily dishes.
As the name suggests, has been vinified and bottled with no added sulphites. Organic vineyard practices, and rigorous winemaking techniques make this possible. The vineyards are situated on the plains and hillsides near the Piave river that flows through the rich flourishing countryside in the north of Treviso.
Settimo Pizzolato is the latest of five generations of the family who have made wine here. The estate has been organic since 1991 but about 10 years ago energetic Settimo pushed through a quantum leap upwards in quality. With 50 hectares of his own and contracts for grapes from another 50 belonging to long-term neighbouring organic growers, he runs a significant operation which is improving in quality and focus exponentially.
Matches: ideal with cereal soups, truffle and oily dishes.
Serve at 16 – 18° C.
As with all wines on this website, this wine has been made without animal products. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines.
