Description

Rose Turitelles, Domaine D’Altugnac

Origines Rose Turitelles, Domaine D’Altugnac is made from grapes grown at altitude in the Vallée de l’Aude in the Languedoc. The name Turitelles refers to the cone shaped marine fossils which litter the vineyard soils and give a zippy minerality to the wine. Crunchy red berries mingle with peach giving a super light and refreshing finish.

Childhood friends Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. They became closer still, when they later married sisters Brigitte and Florence, also from a winemaking family. They now boast two properties, Domaine des Deux Roches near Mâcon and Altugnac in the Languedoc. Following the success of Domaine des Deux Roches, in 1997 they branched out from Mâcon and purchased land in the southwest of the Languedoc in Limoux. The Languedoc vineyard sits at 500 metres above sea level so moderating the Mediterranean climate.

The Altugnac estate spans 100 hectares including the vineyards, woods and farmland. The vines have an average age of 30 years with some nearly 50 years old. Yields are low, sometimes half that required by the designation but they prefer to go for quality over quantity. Just as they did with Domaine des Deux Roches, the duo applied for and received their High Environmental Certification in 2017.

Vegan Wines Online

As with all wines on this website, this wine has been made without animal products. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines. Many vegan wines are also organic or better still bio-dynamically grown. The care taken in growing the grapes and making the wine comes through in the taste of the final product. This is a vegan wine.
