Paxton Guesser Red
Paxton Guesser Red is full of vibrant aromas of red raspberry fruit and some floral notes with an earthy edge. The palate is soft and approachable with plums & spice, a hint of vanilla oak and very subtle tannins that gives a well balanced and enjoyable wine that is easy drinking for all occasions.
Selected batches of Shiraz, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon are fermented and aged separately in small French and American oak barriques. The juice is then blended to achieve a fruit-filled wine. It expresses a nose of Cabernet Sauvignon, mid palate of Shiraz and a lovely finish of Tempranillo.
The Guesser Range from Paxton are blends that change every year depending on the bright fruit driven grapes available. Drink-ability from a young age is the key, the wines represent exceptional value for bio-dynamic wine lovers. The Guesser range of wines gets its name from David Paxton’s days working in shearing sheds in country Australia. The Guesser’s job is to sort, clean & class the fleece of each shorn sheep. This works in quite well with the history of the cellar door location Landcross Farm, which was previously an old sheep farm.

Established in 1979, Paxton is a family owned McLaren Vale wine company. David Paxton is the founder and owner, he is one of Australia’s most highly respected wine makers. His reputation is built on managing and growing wine grapes of exceptional quality for over 30 years.
Paxton vineyards are spread across a diverse number of sites and soil types. The vineyards are managed without compromise, from planting through to harvest. Michael Paxton continues to strive to minimise inputs and manages the Paxton vineyards biodynamically. This is a system of farming without the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. The focus is on promoting healthy, living soils through the use of natural compost preparations.
