Mantlerhof Kremstal is often referred to as Gruner Veltliner Kremstal “Weitgasse” and is produced in Austria by Josef Mantler. It is made using organically grown Grüner Veltliner grapes. A fine full bodied spicy wine with wonderful floral aromas. An amazing wine with great depth and structure.
The estate is based in a 16th-century monastery and has been in the family for over 200 years. His wife’s great, great, great grandfather first planted vineyards here in 1805. Such is the history rooted in the estate and the family, it is reported that one of Sepp’s ancestors founded the native Neuberger variety.
The vineyards have great character and were created on small terraces in the very best locations. They overlook the Danube as it flows east. The plots are scattered over the intricate terraces cut into the soft yellow sand based soils that are blown here from the deserts of the east.
No animal products are used in making this wine: this is the case with all wines on our website. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines. Many vegan wines are also organic or better still bio-dynamically grown. The care taken in growing the grapes and making the wine comes through in the taste of the final product. This is a vegan wine.
