Geyerhof Rosensteig is also known by its fuller name Weingut Geyerhof Grüner Veltliner Rosensteig 2014 from Kremstal in Austria. “Rosensteig” means “rose path” in German. From the aroma you would expect a heavier and rich wine, but fresh acidity keeps it wonderfully light. The wine is steely and immediately refreshing. When allowed to open up exotic flavours come alive, slight peppery notes and lovely finish.
Gruner Veltliner is the signature grape of Austria, and by far the nation’s most widely planted wine grape. Crisp and spicy Gruner Veltliner has been its flagship wine. The finest expressions of Austrian Gruner come from vineyards above the River Danube in villages such as Kremstal. Classic Gruner Veltliner wines show citrus aromas of lemon peel and grapefruit. Fresh vegetal notes and the variety’s trademark hint of white pepper complement these aromas.
These organically grown Gruner Veltliner grapes are grown in deep loose alluvial soil. The vineyards are situated on massive terraces sloping down to the Danube. Rosensteig is the largest Gruner Veltliner producer and the calling card of the estate.

No animal products are used in making this wine: this is the case with all wines on our website. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines. Many vegan wines are also organic or better still bio-dynamically grown. The care taken in growing the grapes and making the wine comes through in the taste of the final product. This is a vegan wine.
