Barolo Erbaluna 2006.
Barolo Erbaluna is huge in flavour and almost black in colour. Coffee and bramble jelly seem to come at you from all directions. Incredible long finish that will almost knock you off your chair. This really is amazing stuff.
I have never made it to the Piemonte region in summer. It has always been shrouded in a wintery fog when I have been: the stunning village of La Morra has always seemed slightly unreal. This feeling is added to by the extraordinary role call of famous Barolo growers who live here. Severino Oberto should certainly be counted amongst these. He makes fine Barolos with a succulence that marries well to the natural bitterness of the Nebbiolo.
Serving: to enjoy at its best we suggest decanting.
As with all wines on this website, this wine has been made without animal products. This is not the case with so many wines that are commonly on sale in the UK. Far too many wines have animal products used as a so-called production aid; they will often have a large array of chemical additives as well. Have a look at our page on additives allowed in wines. Many vegan wines are also organic or better still bio-dynamically grown. The care taken in growing the grapes and making the wine comes through in the taste of the final product. This is a vegan wine.
